Edward D. Etheredge
Ed’s practice is principally in real estate and in land use planning and development. Ed represents a number of local institutions and businesses in corporate, real estate, zoning and succession matters.
Ed has practiced law in Northampton since 1976. He is admitted to the Massachusetts bar and admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for Massachusetts, the 1st Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
He has lectured on zoning and land use, served as an expert witness and mediator in zoning and contract cases. He has appeared before zoning and planning boards in Hampshire, Franklin and Hampden counties. He has tried cases in U.S. District Court, the Supreme Judicial Court, Appeals Court, Land Court and the Superior and Probate Courts in Western Massachusetts. He served as the First Assistant District Attorney for Hampshire and Franklin Counties from 1983 through 1988.
Ed is a Director of Northampton Cooperative Bank. Ed is chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Frank Newhall Look Memorial Park. He has served as a chair of the board of Cooley Dickinson Hospital and Clerk of the Northampton Development Corporation. He has served on numerous other local boards and committees. He is a member of the Hampshire County and Massachusetts Bar Associations.
Ed received his J.D. in 1976 from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and his B.A. cum laude from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970.
Ed was born in Iowa City, Iowa on September 4, 1947.
